We take our time matching staff to the right groups of travelers and take the following factors into consideration when building out the teams on each trip.

Personality
All coordinators complete a personality test during our leadership training to identify strengths and weaknesses, helping us create balanced teams.

Breakaway Tours Travel Experience
Our staff become trip experts by staffing in the same destination and developing lasting relationships in the community.

Gender
Every trip aims to have an appropriate ratio of male and female staff. The average trip has 65% female staff and 35% male staff.

Seniority
We make sure there is a balance of returning staff and new staff on each trip.

Staff Rating
All of our staff are evaluated on their on-site performance by their peers, our travelers, and the Program Director, which creates an overall rating for them. We place our highest rated staff on every trip first and do not re-hire those who we feel are not the right fit.
